The Operation
The cleaning operation is very simple. An operator need only insert a drum onto the central brush mandrel(s) and close the bottom brush assembly. Once the 'run' button is pressed the engagement light comes on and stays on until the sequence is complete.
In the first cycle, the barrel is rotated in one direction by brushes while water and/or cleaning solution is sprayed onto the exterior and interior surfaces of the drum. When a single cycle is complete, there is a pause for the water to drain out of the drum. The next cycle follows the same procedure, but rotates in the opposite direction. A following cycle again rotates in the first direction. The sequence is now complete and the engagement light goes out.
Once the engagement light dims, the operator removes the cleaned drum, a process simplified by the drum removal tool included with each Drumwasher. One standard sequence, about 30 seconds of active washing, should sufficiently clean most drums, but the process can be repeated if necessary. Our standard sequence consists of 10 seconds of forward rotation, 10 seconds of reverse rotation, and a final 10 seconds of forward rotation — all separated by 2 seconds of pause to allow for water drainage.
Users have the ability to change both number of run cycles and duration of each cycle. If the standard cleaning sequence isn't satisfactory for your needs, a custom sequence can be programmed into the PLC.
